The Sayers Club | Todd’s Roaring 20’s Birthday Party | Hollywood Event Photographer

The Capture Forever photo crew photographed a rip roaring 1920’s themed birthday party for Todd and his family at The Sayers Club in Hollywood, California.  The Sayers Club is a secret Speakeasy just off the Hollywood Blvd strip.  You enter through an unnamed door inside the hot dog shack Papaya King.  The entire evening was not only a ton of fun, it was an incredibly classy and authentic event put on by the talented Irene Boujo of Mindy Weiss Party Consultants in Beverly Hills.  Lighting by Peterson Event Lighting.  Florals by Marks Garden.  1920’s live entertainment by Douglas Johnson of E Plus Productions.  DJ Johnny Knight.  Catering by The Sayers Club and Papaya King.  Ice cream by Nitro Dreams.  Shoot to print Brian Kramer.  Limo rental by Classic Limos.  The limo that brought Todd’s family from their home to The Sayers Club and back is a restored 1927 Packard Senior, the oldest running limo in the country.

Here’s a really fun slideshow with Roaring 20’s music (public domain):

Here’s a super fun iPhone self portrait of Angela and I while we were on our way to Todd’s party.  We didn’t want to be left out of the 20’s fun so we got completely decked out in 20’s costumes.  Wish we’d had time to get a full length shot of us!  How’s this for a gangster mug:

Patsy Jones - Everyone looked like they came right out of the “roaring twenties” including Angela and David.June 26, 2012 – 9:10 pm

Hope you are enjoying Hawaii and all it’s beauty. David, I bet it’s hard to put your camera down. So much to photograph there.June 26, 2012 – 7:57 pm

Hotel Seven4One Wedding | Nikki + Jeb | Laguna Beach Wedding Photography and Authentic Super 8 Films

We met Nikki and Jeb through a friend of a friend via Facebook!  Love it when that happens ;-).  The couple celebrated their marriage at the Hotel Seven4One in Laguna Beach, California.  Flowers and trees by Florals by Jenny.  Cake by Heidelberg Pastry Shop.  Bride’s dress from Jinny’s Bridal Huntington Beach.  DJ was Luke Sensebe from Extreme DJ Orange County.  Decor rentals from Signature Party Rentals.  Memorial handkerchief made by the bride’s mother to honor Nikki’s grandmother as well as her grandmother’s broach was placed in the brides’ bouquet.  Nikki and Jeb’s romantic and bridal party photographs took place on a private access beach between Aliso Beach and Wood’s Cove just south of the hotel.  On a technical note, we photographed this wedding using several mediums including 645 medium format film, 35mm film, 35mm digital and Super 8 motion picture film (Wonder Years home movie style!).  We scanned the still film negatives ourselves.  Before you view the full resolution images, take a moment to view the slideshow which includes the Super 8 film.  The music (used by permission) is by the extremely talented The Woodlands and Jake Jeanson.  At the very end of the slideshow David makes a quick little cameo (the guy who looks like a photographer) during the dancing captured on Super 8:

Hyatt Tamaya Resort Wedding | Elana + Brian | Albuquerque Wedding Photographer | Santa Fe Wedding Photographer | Authentic Super 8 Wedding Films

Angela and I photographed Elana + Brian’s wedding at Hyatt Tamaya Resort (the very place Angela and I were married!).  Tamaya lies between Albuquerque and Santa Fe in Santa Ana Pueblo. Elana and Brian chose Tamaya’s Hummingbird Garden and the tent at the Cottonwoods Pavilion for their locations at Tamaya. We simply could not have asked for a more beautiful location and couple for a fall wedding.  Coordination at Tamaya by Velma.  Florals by The Flower Shop at Nob Hill.  Cake by Tamaya and Andie’s Specialty Sweets.

The classical guitar music featured in the slideshow below was performed by Albuquerque’s very own Jim Gross of Carousel of Music (we met Jim at our wedding where he did an outstanding performance.  We highly recommend him).  For the slideshow of their wedding photographs (we used 645 medium format and 35mm film for the majority of their wedding) and authentic Super 8 film.  If you’re interested in having us photograph your wedding, mitzvah or portrait please send us an email.

There’s nothing quite like the texture of Ilford black and white film:
