Chateau St Jean Winery Wedding | Flush Mount Magazine Style Album

Here’s the digital layout for an album from a wedding I photographed at Chateau St Jean Winery in Sonoma’s Kenwood, CA.  This album is an example of a digitally designed flush mounted Magazine Style Album that I offer and personally design.  Album binding will be done by the phenomenal Leather Craftsmen.  The compressed-for-Internet digital images just won’t do the printed album justice so shoot me an email or call to see it in person.  You’ll have to imagine each image as two pages, with the grey line in the middle the page divide once the album is bound.  The first image is the cover image option for this particular album.

Jenny + Peter | Universal Sheraton Wedding, Our Lady of Grace Wedding, Los Angeles

What happens when a bridesmaid catches the bouquet at a wedding I photographed in 2008?  She becomes this gorgeous bride!

Jenny + Peter started their wedding at a private home in Los Angeles.  Their ceremony took place at Our Lady of Grace in Encino, CA.  The reception was at the Sheraton Universal Starview Ballroom in Universal City, CA.  Jennifer’s dress by Steven Yearick (style 13194) purchased from Mon Amie and altered by Couture by Irina.  Bridesmaid dresses by Anna Elyse Bridesmaids.  Bridal hair by Laura Schiro of Suburbia Salon.  Bridal veil and hair jewels by Erica Koesler.  Bridal party hair and makeup by Denise of Sweet Dreams Salon.  Flowers by Marcia McCann.

Here’s bridesmaid Adrienne, the bride who threw the bouquet to Jenny.
Jenny decided to get creative with florist Marcia McCann with this beautiful floral arch that we used for the family and bridal portraits.

I know all of you are just dying to know what happened when the bride who was once a bridesmaid that caught the flowers threw her own bouquet?  Her sister caught the bouquet ;-)!

Happy Holidays from our family to yours!

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year from our family to yours!  We celebrate Christmas (in a slightly overly-decorated, Griswold Family Christmas sort of way) so Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night ;-)!

Angela and I packed the boys up and headed for New Mexico and Wisconsin to visit our families for the holidays.  While in Albuquerque with Angela’s family we partook in a tradition dating back to the 1500’s, the lighting of the Christmas Eve luminarias.  A luminaria is a very basic lantern made of a brown paper bag, sand for weight and a candle.  The towns of Albuquerque and Santa Fe are famous for their luminaria displays.

Here’s our little “Casita” in Los Ranchos.  During the fall and winter months New Mexico is a wonder for the senses.  The incense of burning Piñon wood fills the air along with roasting red peppers.  Hot air balloonists still brave the cold air and unpredictable weather that can turn from a beautiful 60 degree day to an unforgiving blizzard.

Los Ranchos is a beautiful neighborhood along the Rio Grande in Albuquerque.  We did a midnight drive and the whole area was glowing warmly.  Even though these photographs show our point of view on this night, this tradition reaches across the entire Southwest.

Carol + John Escape From New York | Grand Central Station Wedding & Central Park Wedding, New York

After their wedding reception in Valley Cottage, NY, Carol + John went all out to immortalize their marriage with this epic vintage inspired day-after shoot in Manhattan’s Central Park and Grand Central Station.  I need to preclude these photographs with the story of how John met Carol.

A few years ago John set off on a personal self discovery journey that took him on travels world-wide.  With ambitions of sailing around the world as a deckhand, John set out to find a sailboat in need of a crew.  While waiting to find a sailboat in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, John met Carol at a dance club and the two fell in love.  They were soon separated when “The Golden Fleece,” a 42-foot sailboat, swept John away to Trinidad & Tobago.  After a month at sea, John rushed back to Rio to stay the rest of his visa with the girl he fell in love with before stealing her back to the United States.  Knowing the story of how John met Carol was very inspirational to me with how I styled and photographed their day after photographs.  John’s story of the wayfarer traveller inspired the couture bindle (sack on a stick 😉 for those like me who don’t know what a bindle is).  I made the bindle with an antique walking stick I found at C D Antiques in Nyack, NY.  The bindle’s pouch is fashioned from an oversized, black and ivory striped handkerchief from American Apparel in Los Angeles.  John’s Argus Seventy-Five camera was also found, oddly enough, at C D Antiques about 2 feet away from the walking stick.  I wasn’t planning on implementing a camera into the story until I saw this camera sitting there and it suddenly made perfect sense!  Carol’s vintage-inspired suitcase is from Pottery Barn.  The bouquet was provided by Manhattan’s Elizabeth Ryan Floral Design.  John is wearing Zara on top of Aldo.  Carol is wearing David’s Bridal on top of Bellissima Something Bleu.  Paper for the twist ending from Kate’s Paperie in SoHo.
